The Museum of Photography, Seoul, situated on the 19th and 20th floors of Hanmi Tower in Bangi-dong, eastern Seoul, is Korea’s first government-authorized private museum for photography.

Song Young-sook, the founder and chief director of the museum, established it in 2002 after many twists and turns.

Rediscover Seoul(79) 우리의 소리 - 서울 놀이마당

 

Traditional melodies are all around

Every Sunday at 3 p.m., Seoul Norimadang, located in Jamsil, Sonpa-gu is filled with thumping drums and heart-fluttering melodies. Listeners sometimes move their shoulders up and down or silently gaze at the stage, reacting to the performances. After the performance, walking along Seokchon Lake under the warm spring sun is another treat for rest of the afternoon.

 

At 2:30 p.m., people are gathering one by one at Seoul Norimadang, located on the west side of Seokchon Lake. The 1,500 seats under the dome-shaped roof quickly fill up. At 3 p.m., the show begins with the greetings of the host, and the hall is filled with cheerful traditional melodies. This is something you can find every Sunday at 3 p.m. at Seoul Norimadang
