This is the fifth in a 10-part series on prominent art galleries in Korea. – Ed

Kukje Gallery in Sogyeok-dong, central Seoul, really lives up to its name “Kukje,” which means international.

It is one of the galleries in Korea that is most often seen at international art fairs. This year alone it participated in The Armory Show in March, Hong Kong International Art Fair in May and is scheduled to participate in Art Basel later this month.

Jack Pierson is a versatile artist who freely explores almost all genres of art from sculpture to photography to video works.

In the U.S., he is best noted as a fashion and celebrity photographer who worked with Naomi Campbell, Snoop Dogg and Brad Pitt. He was recently in charge of the catalogue shootings for six Korean designers’ collections at “Concept Korea -- Fashion Collective 2010” which took place in New York in February.

Korean exhibits at the Guggenheim

A retrospective solo exhibition of the Korean artist Lee U-fan will be held at the Guggenheim Museum next year.

 

A large-scale retrospective exhibition on Lee is set to open at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in February-March next year, Lee's domestic representative gallery Kukje Gallery said on Feb 16.
