Culture Ministry launches initiatives to promote e-books

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on Monday that it would ratchet up its support for the nascent e-book industry by helping nurture a market valued at 700 billion won ($630 million) by 2014.
The Korean government’s latest move comes as a host of new gadgets ranging from smartphones to e-book readers to Apple’s iPad are hitting the market, heralding a fresh round of opportunities for local players.
