The northern part of Seoul has slowly and steadily been attracting more people as a quieter alternative to its south of the Han River counterpart. Growing popularity, however, has led to a saturated neighborhood of Samcheong-dong near Gyeongbok Palace, and those seeking some peace are moving on to Wonseo-dong near Changdeok Palace.
The palace is in itself a beauty to visit as its status as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites testifies. Built in 1405, it represents the asymmetric beauty of Korean palaces architecture beautifully incorporated into its natural surroundings.
