He calls himself an “ethnic” designer. From layered stone jewelry around his wrist to an exceptionally glossy pair of black leather shoes, Cemil Ipekci does not hide who and what he is -- everything he is wearing is from his motherland: Turkey.
“To be civilized and modernized does not mean copying Western culture,” Ipeckci said last week, visiting Korea for the first time as one of the delegates for Culture 20 (C20), a meeting of leading cultural figures of the G20 countries. “Nobody would accept you if you don’t stay close to your roots.”
