South Korean Red Cross to send flood aid to N.K.

South Korea’s Red Cross said Monday it will send 5,000 tons of rice and 10,000 tons of cement to help flood-damaged North Korea, in the latest reconciliatory gesture by Seoul after the North allegedly torpedoed one of its warships near their tense sea border in March.
The South Korean branch of the international humanitarian aid group also suggested holding talks with Pyongyang this Friday on resuming reunions of families separated by the Korean War six decades ago. North Korea’s Red Cross first offered to hold a new round of the family reunions, which have been stalled for almost a year, over the weekend.
