Korea looks to shine at Games

All eyes are now on Seoul, where the country is hosting the G20 summit, but, starting Friday night, attention will turn to Guangzhou as the southern Chinese city stages the 16th Asian Games.

 

The Guangzhou Asian Games will run Nov. 12-27 at 60 venues spread out all over the city, featuring 42 sports, including 28 Olympic sports and 14 non-Olympic sports. The Olympic Council of Asia has confirmed the Games as the biggest in its history in terms of athlete participation. More than 14,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries are attending Asia’s biggest sporting event, competing for a record 476 gold medals.
