Tension is building between the prosecution and political circles as investigators widen their inquiries into a series of corruption cases, including the recent lobbying scandal involving ruling and opposition lawmakers.

 

“We cannot accept the inordinate inquiry (into scandals involving lawmakers). We should not treat politicians as if they were serious criminals,” Rep. Ahn Sang-soo, leader of the ruling Grand National Party, said in an interview, referring to the investigation into the cash-for-amendment scandal.
