Military reform a top priority for new defense chief

New Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin is now tasked with carrying out a tough undertaking ― reforming the military, which has come under fire for its “flawed” responses to a recent series of North Korean provocations.

 

During his inaugural speech Saturday, Kim expressed his firm resolve to overhaul the military, underscoring the need to strengthen mental discipline, enhance combat capabilities and remove the “bureaucratic atmosphere” in military organizations.
