Field commander named Army chief

Gen. Kim Sang-ki, commander of the Third Army, has been named as the country’s new Army chief of staff, the Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

 

If the Cabinet approves his nomination in a meeting Thursday, Kim will be replacing Gen. Hwang Eui-don, whose resignation offer was accepted by President Lee Myung-bak on Tuesday amid suspicions over his property investment.
